Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Genetic Counselor.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for providing counseling to patients and families in prenatal and pediatric settings. Provides resources and education for patients and Healthcare providers. Organizes necessary genetic testing, and teaches residents and medical students.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Performs an evaluation of patient and delivers specific actions that relate to the patients needs.
- Accurately follows through on all patients that are seen and have been evaluated for continued quality care.
- Communicates effectively with patient family.
- Responsible for pre-arranging any special prenatal testing.
- Involved in group counseling and support with the Screening Program
- Involved in organizing support group sessions for families with children with Prader-Willi Syndrome. The ability to present cases and attend weekly meeting for continued education. The ability to present cases and attend weekly meeting for continued education.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's Degree Human Genetics. Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Genetic Counseling. Board certification preferred, to be obtained within 3 years of employment. Excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bilingual (Spanish speaking).
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
