The Department of Pediatrics Division of Genetics & Metabolism at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a full-time Open Rank Professor of Pediatrics. The geneticist clinician will provide inpatient consultation to pediatric and adult patients, primarily at Tampa General Hospital and at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital. Outpatient services will be provided at USF Health clinics.
The Open Rank Professor will also participate in the teaching of residents, and medical students in clinical medicine is an essential function of this position. To perform this position, the candidate will need to obtain and maintain a FL medical license, maintain credentials in the USF Health faculty practice plan, and be a medical staff member in good standing at the hospitals he/she is assigned to perform clinical duties. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Teaching Duties: Participate in the education and training of medical students, residents, and genetic counselor students.
Research Duties: Participate in research programs to expand the scholarly activities of the division. The incumbent will be encouraged to participate in clinical trials and other clinical research.
Clinical Duties: The candidate will provide inpatient consultative services for inborn errors of metabolism and general genetics at Tampa General Hospital and general genetics at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital, as well as outpatient USF Health clinics.
Other duties as assigned.
Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department.
Medical degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in patient care, teaching, academic research, and service.
Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.
For Associate/Full Professor - Normally will have produced creative work, professional writing, or research in referred and other professional journals.
Candidates must be board certified or board eligible in Clinical Genetics and Genomics and be eligible for a full unrestricted Florida Medical License.
Training in Medical Biochemical Genetics is preferred, but not required.
