The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a metabolic geneticist to join in our clinical, research and teaching activities.  Full time, part time and leadership opportunities may be available for the appropriately experienced candidate.

The Metabolic Subsection of the Division of Genetics and Genomic Medicine serves inpatients and outpatients of all ages. The successful candidate will join an expanding team that consists of eleven clinical geneticists (three full time metabolic), 18 genetic counselors, three full-time metabolic dieticians, three nurse practitioners, and metabolic medical assistants/LPNs. Biochemical genetics laboratory services on site. 

The Division also supports a Clinical Genetics residency program, and fellowships in Medical Biochemical, Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics. Nationwide Children’s is 1 of 8 Regional Genetics Centers funded by the Ohio Department of Health, serving over 3.5 million (>750,000 pediatric age) in central, northwest and southeast Ohio, with 35,000 births annually. In addition to biochemical laboratory services, Nationwide boasts on-site cytogenetics and molecular diagnostic labs with easy access to on-site rapid genome sequencing as well as flexibility to send-out testing as needed. There are a number of active clinical trials focused on metabolics conducted through the Division.

Support for clinical trials and natural history studies are available through the Division for appropriately credentialed candidates.  Projects leveraging QI in metabolics and medical informatics are of high interest. The investigators associated with the Research Institute have frequent collaborations with clinical faculty. Additionally, a main strategic focus at Nationwide Children’s is the implementation of genomic medicine across the hospital led by the Steve and Cindy Rasmussen Institute for Genomic Medicine, which is closely affiliated with the Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine. The Division also closely collaborates with the Center for Gene Therapy.

Qualified applicants must be board-eligible or board- certified in Biochemical Genetics. Applicants at any academic level and with any interests (research, teaching, DEIA, medical informatics) are encouraged to apply.
