The Cytogenetics Compliance Specialist works independently under the guidance of and in conjunction with the Laboratory Leadership in accomplishing the goals of the laboratory. Senior level position requiring strong technical, administrative, and leadership skills. Oversees others in performing the work of the lab.
Responsibilities
- Take active part in development and maintenance of laboratory quality management systems to ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations and requirements governing clinical laboratory operations
- Develop and analyze quality indicators, identify trends, report on the performance of the quality management system, monitor prevention and correction of quality deviations (CAPA).
- Recommend development and oversee implementation of process improvement initiatives based on analysis of aggregate data and trends, and/or by Lab or Organizational Leadership.
- Oversee development and maintenance of effective safety procedures to comply with laboratory safety regulations, ensuring safe working practices and a safe working environment.
- Oversee the documentation system of staff education, training and competency to comply with solid quality management system practices
- Oversee the life cycle for proficiency testing in the lab.
Qualifications
Required:
- BA/BS in related scientific field.
- Typically, at least 8 years' experience in a Cytogenetics/genomics lab OR completion of a formal certified training program in Cytogenetics/genomics and 7 years' work experience
- Certification as CG(ASCP)CM or MB(ASCP)CM or international equivalent with on-going documentation of CE comparable to ASCP programs
- Strong knowledge of CAP guidelines
- Excellent collaboration skills to bring together multiple stakeholders with varying viewpoints and objectives
- Ability and technical expertise to perform Cytogenetics Senior Technologist' duties
- Proven leadership skills
- Advanced Troubleshooting Skills (and ability to coach others through troubleshooting efforts)
- Strong ability to draw appropriate conclusions and effectively communicate findings and recommendations
- Strong background knowledge of all areas of the lab (though may not have advanced technical proficiency in all areas)
- Basic interview and candidate assessment skills
- Working knowledge of common HR policies
- Working knowledge of lab administrative operations
- Working knowledge of relevant broader organizational resources and operations
- Must be able to differentiate between colors and pass a standardized color vision screen to perform this role
Preferred:
- Master's degree or formal post-bac education in related fields beneficial
- Dual certification as CG(ASCP)CM and MB(ASCP)CM

The annual base salary range for this position is from $102,419.20 to $161,865.60 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
