The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine is seeking a full-time clinical faculty member outside the tenure track to join a robust team providing pediatric and adult genetic services across the UPMC system. The position will be based in the Department of Pediatrics at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, a US News Top Ten Children’s Hospital.
The candidate will participate in caring for children and adults in an outpatient setting and sharing hospital service and call at the UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. The candidate will participate in educational activities for Medical Genetics and Genomics residents, University of Pittsburgh medical students and genetic counseling students. The successful candidate should hold an MD or MD, PhD and be certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics in Clinical Genetics and Genomics. Comfort in dealing with patients with inborn errors of metabolism is necessary but board certification in Clinical or Medical Biochemical Genetics is not. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong potential for clinical leadership, academic productivity, and educational mentorship. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s expertise and experience.
The Division of Genetic and Genomic Medicine is a top funded program with 18 faculty, 6 of whom hold full time research positions, and received in excess of $7M in research funding from the NIH, private industry and charitable foundations. Division faculty hold 12 NIH grants individually or collaboratively. The Center for Rare Disease Therapy at the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh offers access to cutting edge clinical research and patients with a broad spectrum of rare diseases.
