Labcorp Oncology provides routine cytogenetic work in a high volume laboratory. In this position you will have the opportunity to work in a branch of genetics that focuses on the study of the structure, function, and behavior of human chromosomes. Other techniques include molecular cytogenetics such as fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH). Both applications aid in the diagnosis, classification, and treatment of acquired genetic diseases. Our oncology division is focused on providing world class solutions to better the lives of patients living with cancer.
Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday, 9:00am - 5:30pm

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation
Demonstrate the ability to problem solve
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Assist with processing of specimens
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required at Technologist level
Previous experience is not required at Technologist Trainee level
ASCP certification is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
