Full Time: Hours may vary, but will typically fall within a standard Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm schedule-the opportunity to work both onsite and remotely.

Duke University Health System, Children's Health Center seeks to hire a Genetic Counselor/Certified Genetic Counselor who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together as part of our multidiscipline Medical Genetics outpatient clinic(s).
The Children's Health Center at Duke University Hospital is comprised of pediatric outpatient clinics-opportunity to cross-collaborate with other subspecialists who may require genetic counseling services and inpatient coverage possible. The Duke Children's Health Center specialty clinics serve outpatient ambulatory pediatric patients and families with a variety of healthcare needs. This Genetic Counselor may also work at the Lenox Baker Children's Hospital.
Ideal candidates will be compassionate, with great communication and teamwork skills. Flexibility and the capacity to adapt to varying patient scenarios and high visit volumes are crucial to this role.
What you will do:
As a Genetic Counselor in the Duke University Health System, you will plan and provide professional care for patients in accordance with the HR Genetic Counseling job description (Job 5046). These roles include, but are not limited to:
Gather and review pertinent medical records and preparation for clinic visit.
Take a family pedigree and medical history and interpret of same.
Participate in clinical evaluation of patients.
Provide information about the medical genetic diagnosis, etiology, inheritance patterns, and risk of occurrence and reoccurrence.
Provide information about available reproductive options and prenatal diagnosis where appropriate.
Prepare case summaries and genetic counseling letter.
Coordinate scheduling of appointments for general, specialty and outreach genetics clinics.
Train and supervise graduate genetic counseling students in their clinical experiences.
Advise and consult with local and national lay organizations and community support groups through participation on boards, advisory councils and national meetings.
Conduct research in the field of genetic counseling.

Educate patients and families in accordance with the Genetic Counselor competencies. Relationship management with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators, leadership and others.

Minimum Qualification
Education
Master's level health professional who has received training and certification from the American Board of Genetic Counselors (ABGC).
Experience
Board Certification or eligible by the American Board Of Genetic Counselors (ABGC).
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Board Certification or eligible by the American Board Of Genetic Counselors (ABGC).
