Genetic Counselor – Testing & Innovation

Upstate Medical University is looking for a Genetic Counselor to join their dynamic team of expert professionals.

The Genetic Counselor will work in consultation with laboratory medicine to provide timely and accurate patient care to laboratory personnel and referring clinicians. The Genetic Counselor's primary responsibilities will be to interpret and author constitutional microarray (CMA) results for director sign-out, identify appropriate genetic testing for patients and communicate that to ordering clinicians, and be an information resource for clinicians with patients awaiting results from cytogenetic and/or molecular genetic testing. The candidate will be able to work independently, summarize complex information from the primary scientific literature, and analyze and interpret information obtained from medical records, genetic tests, and any other appropriate resources.

Master's Degree conferred by a Genetic Counseling program accredited by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABCG) required. Board Certified, or eligible, by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) preferred. Experience as a laboratory genetic counselor is preferred. *Salary/title level commensurate with qualifications.
