Nemours Children's Hospital - Delaware (previously Nemours/A.I. duPont Hospital for Children) invites applicants for a full-time psychologist position within the Division of Psychology, Department of Pediatrics, to work with children with neurodevelopmental and genetic conditions. This position sits within the Division of Psychology in the Department of Pediatrics.

Neurodevelopmental and Genetic Conditions

Nemours is seeking to expand the services we provide to children with neurodevelopmental and genetic conditions. We are seeking a psychologist with experience working with this population of children, specifically with regard to consultation, behavioral treatment, and testing/assessment. The position will involve working with children with specific or global delays, neuromuscular diseases, and complex challenges. The psychologist will work with other psychologists with similar interests, including our Swank Autism Center and other disciplines in multidisciplinary clinic settings, and will provide consultation for inpatients when their expertise is needed.

The psychologist will provide outpatient services in several settings. First, the psychologist will see children under age 5 in our Behavioral and Developmental Access Clinic (BDAC), an entry point for young children to receive a diagnostic evaluation and be connected to services either within our department or in the community. Second, the psychologist will work within the interdisciplinary Down Syndrome clinic, providing consultation to families seen in the clinic. Third, the psychologist will conduct brief developmental testing with children. Finally, the psychologist will provide outpatient treatment for children with a wide range of developmental and genetic challenges.

The psychologist will provide supervision and training to residents (pre-doctoral interns) and fellows within several milieu, including medical clinics, testing, and outpatient therapy. Teaching, training, and mentoring are core values in our division and these efforts are supported and encouraged. The psychologist will participate in quality improvement initiatives, program development, and other efforts to ensure the sustainability of their service. In addition, there will be opportunities for research. This role involves teaching and presentation of relevant topics to colleagues, trainees, medical staff, and patients. The psychologist will provide staff support and education around family-centered care and psychosocial issues. The psychologist will consult with medical providers and maintain close collaboration with members of multidisciplinary medical teams.

In addition, there are opportunities for collaboration with leadership on goals to promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity in the workplace, through a lens of health equality. Academic appointments through Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University are expected and supported.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

1. Doctoral degree in clinical, counseling, or school psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program.

2. Internship training from an APA-accredited program in clinical child or pediatric psychology.

3. Post-doctoral fellowship training in clinical child or pediatric psychology.

Experience

• Applicants with all levels of post-licensure experience will be considered, with a preference for candidates with a well-rounded experience in pediatric psychology, and robust as well as recent experience with inpatient medical settings.

• Specific expertise in multicultural care to meet the needs of our most underserved families in our community.

• Bilingual Spanish skills are strongly preferred.

• Advanced knowledge and skills in pediatric practice in medical settings, especially the critical care setting, including evidence-based therapy modalities, crisis intervention, and risk assessment.

• License-eligible in the state of Delaware.
