Overview

We are looking for a highly motivated and energetic medical geneticist to join our team at AdventHealth Medical Genetics & Genomics clinic-Orlando. Successful candidate would join our two other physicians and genetic counselors and continue to grow our program working within our multidisciplinary teams of experienced clinicians in (pediatric and adult) cardiology, gastroenterology, general pediatrics, hematology/oncology, MFM, neurology and transplantation surgery. We aspire to provide comprehensive state of the art genetic and genomic services to all patients within the AdventHealth system (locally, regionally and nationally).

The new physician would have the ability to work in both an outpatient and inpatient setting along with fulfilling personal research and teaching interests. Requirements include board eligibility or board certification in Clinical Genetics through the American Board of Medical Genetics & Genomics. 

Our physicians are working directly with our state-of-the-art neonatology and pediatric liver transplant programs to develop a metabolic disorders program at AdventHealth for Children that will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for infants, children, and adolescents with various metabolic diseases. 

Physicians have the ability to work with our research team where we conduct hundreds of clinical trials and studies each year designed to improve health care and find cures for a wide range of disesases.  Our world class team of researchers, clinical scientists and support staff is equipped to meet a wide array of research needs.  We aim to transform health care through groundbreaking, innovative and globally recognized whole-person research.  Our teams conduct over 550 active studies per year and we have over 250 dedicated research investigators (website).

Practice Description

This is an employment opportunity that includes the benefits of call coverage and competitive compensation. Other benefits include occurrence-based malpractice coverage, paid leave days, CME days and allowance, 403b retirement plan, health insurance for physician and family, and relocation allowance. This practice is a part of AdventHealth Medical Group (AHMG).  AHMG is a sister organization of AdventHealth which employs 900+ physicians in 60+ specialties. This aligned model and practice management experience provides the opportunity for the physicians to focus on the clinical aspects of medicine.  Our team will also be moving to Epic EMR (from Cerner) across our entire health system in 2021-2022.

AdventHealth Orlando Overview

AdventHealth Orlando (website) is our 1,364 bed tertiary facility with close to 160 ICU beds. It is at the center of eight other hospitals around the greater Orlando area, which total approximately 3,000 beds. AdventHealth operates many hospitals across 9 different states; 30 of which are in Florida. Our mission has remained the same and is to Extend the Healing Ministry of Christ.

Since 1908, AdventHealth Orlando has cared for the Central Florida community as well as patients from around the world. AdventHealth Orlando is an acute-care, tertiary hospital caring for approximately 300,000 patients a year. As the primary campus for more than 1,000 physicians, AdventHealth Orlando is home to nationally recognized Centers of Excellence for Cancer, Cardiology, Children, Diabetes, Neuroscience, Orthopaedics, and Abdominal and Cardiothoracic Transplant. AdventHealth for Children Overview

Our Walt Disney Pavilion at AdventHealth for Children (website) is a full service, tertiary children’s hospital with over 200 dedicated pediatric beds, more than 30 peds ICU beds with a dedicated peds CICU, a 102 bed NICU, 17 bed pediatric emergency department and statewide pediatric network and transport system.  We started our comprehensive pediatric open heart program in 2012 and have a strong track record of positive outcomes.  We also have several key destination programs including our level IV Epilepsy program, the region’s only BMT and solid organ transplants including kidney and liver, and we increased Orlando area NICU beds to 150 total in 2017. Our unparalleled network consists of 30 hospitals across the state with one children’s hospital at the center totals over 23,000 births and several extremely successful pediatric subspecialty programs including outreach clinics.  These 30 hospitals refer patients for tertiary and quaternary services to our main location near downtown Orlando.  Our newest program has brought pediatric liver transplant services to Central Florida.  In 2019, 2020 and 2021, AdventHealth for Children is recognized by US News and World Report as the best Children’s Hospital for newborn care in Florida.  We are also recognized by The Leapfrog Group as a top Children’s Hospital for quality and safety, and we are a magnet designated hospital for nursing care.
