The Mitochondrial Disease Clinical Center (MDCC), within the Department of Pediatrics at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Attending Physician. The position will be eligible for either a (non-tenure) clinician-educator, or academic clinician faculty track within two years. The CHOP MDCC is a clinical center charged with improving the integration of multi-disciplinary clinical care and translational research for patients of all ages with mitochondrial disease.The Attending Physician will provide outpatient and inpatient clinical care and will participate in the training and education of medical students, residents, fellows, and colleagues. The Attending Physician will be an active participant in clinical trials of novel therapies and biomarkers for mitochondrial diseases. The ideal candidate will be experienced in the diagnosis and treatment of people with mitochondrial diseases. Applicants must have an M.D. or D.O. degree and demonstrated excellent qualifications in clinical care and education. Experience in clinical or translational research is desirable. Applicants must be board-certified in Medical Genetics and/or Biochemical Genetics, or general pediatrics and neurology. Candidates who desire appointment in the clinician-educator track should have a documented record of scholarly achievement. The latter is not required of those appointed to the academic clinician track. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience. The Attending Physician will ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local, legal, regulatory and clinical standards and requirements including (but not limited to): HIPPA, OSHA, Joint Commission, DOH and CLIA. May represent CHOP with external organizations, professional associations upon request.
Licenses, Certificates, and/or Registrations required for the job:
-Active medical license in Pennsylvania as well as other states in which s/he is expected to practice.
-Current DEA license.
-Board Certified (or Board Eligible) in (sub) specialty required. Board Certification is set in compliance with Department / Division and Medical Staff Affairs By-laws (either immediately or within a prescribed time frame from date of hire).

-Required Education: Graduate of a GMEC-accredited Medical School and Pediatric Residency (and/or Fellowship as indicated) Program. Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).
