Akron Children’s Hospital seeks an MD or DO Pathologist with Molecular Pathology and Cytogenetics training, or a PhD with training and certification in Clinical Laboratory Genetics and Genomics. This is a new position to support growth initiatives in these areas. The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Akron Children’s is a regional referral center for adult and pediatric genetic and infectious disease molecular testing. The position is predominantly clinical in focus, with clinically oriented research opportunities available.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is staffed by seven Pathologists and two PhD directors. The successful candidate will join the Genomics team which consists of one Molecular Pathologist and one Cytogeneticist, along with a seasoned team of technical staff. In 2020, the molecular laboratory performed over 42,962 tests, while the cytogenetics laboratory performed over 1,084 tests.
