Division of Genomic Medicine / Division Chief

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is
launching a national search for a full-time academic faculty member, who will also serve as the Division Chief. The Division of Genomic Medicine is composed of 4 physicians, 5 genetic counselors, 1 genetic counseling assistant, a metabolic dietician, a clinical research coordinator and several student volunteers. The Division also has a Medical Genetics and Genomics Residency Program which supports up to 4 residents.

The Division of Genomic Medicine provides comprehensive genetic services across a wide age spectrum, from newborns to adults, and includes services related to both general genetics and metabolic disorders. All physicians have special interests and run specialty clinics including precision genomics, RASopathies, neurodevelopmental and autism genomics, biochemical genetics, lysosomal storage disorders, cardiovascular genomics, craniofacial genetics, connective tissue disorders, skeletal dysplasias, ocular genomics and Tele Genomics. The division is active in clinical translational research with options for clinical whole genome sequencing and functional studies. We have active biochemical and enzyme replacement therapies ongoing.

This position is open to Associate/Full Professor level candidates, commensurate with
credentials, in the Regular Ladder Rank, In-Residence, Regular Ladder Rank/In-Residence split, Clinical Pediatrics, or Health Sciences series. Faculty in the Regular Ladder Rank tenure-track and In-Residence series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research and creative work, professional competence and activity, and University/public service. Faculty in the Clinical Pediatrics series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, research and creative work, and University/public service. Faculty in the Health Sciences series are expected to engage in teaching, professional competence and activity, scholarly and creative activity, and University/public service.

The ideal candidate will have research, leadership, and administrative experience. Candidates will be expected to participate in clinical care, teaching of medical students, residents and fellows, scholarly and/or research activities in the Department of Pediatrics, quality improvement and patient safety initiatives, and serve on hospital, departmental, and School of Medicine committees.

Candidates must have the following experience/qualifications:

• M.D. or D.O.
• Eligibility for a California Medical License
• Successful completion of an approved ACGME Medical Genetics and Genomic
  Residency training program
• Board certification in Clinical Genetics
• Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment
• Demonstrated ability to establish and sustain extramurally funded research programs
• Experience mentoring junior faculty and fellows in scholarly activities and research

Genomic Medicine is housed at the MIND Institute at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California. The MIND Institute was founded in 1998 as a unique interdisciplinary research center where parents, community leaders, researchers, clinicians and volunteers collaborate to study and treat autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders. The institute has major research efforts in autism, Tourette Syndrome, Fragile X Syndrome, Chromosome 22q11.2 Deletion Syndrome, Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), RASopathies and whole genome sequencing.

The UC Davis Children’s Hospital is located on the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento, California and serves a population of over 1 million children in the Northern California, Central Valley, and Western Nevada regions.
