Memorial Medical Center’s Laboratory department offers a fast paced environment with variety and growth opportunities to help you continually evolve as a Histotechnologist. You will assist pathologists in making diagnoses by performing cutting and staining of tissue, small-growth biopsies, and frozen sections. You will also manage and interpret digitized glass slides in the digital pathology environment.
Because Memorial Medical Center is an academic hospital, Histotechnologists work on a range of cases with varying degrees of complexity and partner with our affiliate hospital SIU School of Medicine on projects. Histotechs also do a lot of forensics for the coroner’s office, so you will grow your skills in autopsy pathology as well! Successful team members are interested in process improvement, want to learn and grow within the department, and have great trouble-shooting skills.
Here are a few highlights of what we offer at Memorial Medical Center:
State of the Art Equipment
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field required
HTL (ASCP) certification required
One year of histology experience required
Internal Number: 2019-2644
