Sanford Children’s Hospital is the flagship pediatric provider for Sanford Health, receiving a gift of $400 million from well-known philanthropist, T. Denny Sanford in 2007. A significant portion of these funds are earmarked for pediatric program development to enhance Sanford’s mission of clinical service, education, and research. An additional $125 million was given in 2014 for the IMagenetics Initiative.
SANFORD IMAGENETICS: Sanford Health has a strong commitment to genetics in medicine. The Sanford Imagenetics Initiative is a comprehensive new program that fully integrates genetics into the clinic setting with the goal of improved awareness and recognition of genetic conditions. This first-of-its-kind innovative model to incorporating genetics into the primary care setting has led to the expansion of its genetic counseling program, development of state of the art cytogenetic and molecular laboratories and bioinformatics capabilities.
