The Contra Costa County Health Services Department currently has a full-time opportunity for a Speech Pathologist. Speech Pathologists provide speech and language therapy to adults in an inpatient and outpatient environment. The current opening is assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center located in Martinez, California. Incumbents in this position may also be assigned to work at Health Centers located in East, West and Central County and be required to travel to those site(s).
Responsibilities include evaluating patients’ level of functioning in the area of speech, language, cognitive and oral motor functions; educating and communicating with team members and patients regarding pertinent deficits; compensatory strategies and home programs; and participating in Quality Improvement activities and program and/or service development. The person appointed to this position will report to the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation Therapy Services and/or his or her designee.
The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record as a team player; excellent patient care and interpersonal skills; and the ability to respond and communicate effectively with others.
Minimum qualifications include a current and valid license as a Speech-Language Pathologist issued by the State of California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and Hearing Aide Dispensers Board; a current and valid American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence; Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate issued by the American Heart Association or CPR certification issued by the American Red Cross; and a valid California motor vehicle operator's license (out of state valid motor vehicle operator's license will be accepted during the application process).
