Under direct supervision of the Director, MRI Operations and Medical Director, MRI and on a continuing and assigned basis, incumbent performs basic and complex MR imaging procedures and may be assigned post-processing responsibilities.
The MR technologist must maintain a high degree of accuracy in patient positioning and image acquisition/formation.
He/she must maintain knowledge about magnetic field safety and properly screen all patients and visitors prior to admittance into the MR magnet room.
The MR Technologist must perform accurate image archival via appropriate local archival media and perform accurate verification and archival of complete MR exams on the GE PACS Centricity workstations.
The MR Technologist is also required to operate various post processing/3D workstations.
The MR Technologist must use professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking when performing all duties, and render first aid as needed until further assistance can be obtained to maintain the patient’s health.
MR Technologists are responsible for optimal patient care and patient safety, public education and enhanced knowledge and technical competence.
The MR Technologist is required to float/flex between various scanning locations staffed by the UCLA Department of Radiology, adhere to the on-call, holiday, weekend and weekly work schedules as prepared by the Lead Technologist or Director and participate in rotating shifts as required.
The MR Technologist must maintain current CRT, ARRT and CPR certifications.
Current CRT, ARRT and CPR Certification
Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology, with the ability to distinguish between types of medical procedures and diagnoses
Knowledge of human anatomy and pathology.
Understands the requirement of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act).
Ability to identify and recognize contraindications for exams (Radiology Only)
Ability to adapt to advancements and changing technologies.
