The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) is an academic pediatric hospital in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The Division of Metabolics and Newborn Screening provides care to pediatric and adult patients in the greater Ottawa area, which has a population of about 1.5 million people. In addition, CHEO houses Newborn Screening Ontario (NSO) the program that coordinates and provides newborn screening services for the ~145 000 babies born annually in the Province of Ontario. At the core of the screening program is a state of the art laboratory using a wide variety of platforms to analyze newborn dried blood spots. Additionally the program hosts a Biochemical Genetics diagnostic laboratory as well as a Molecular Genetics diagnostic laboratory
The Division of Metabolics and Newborn Screening in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a third physician to join our group that also includes four PhD scientists. The ideal candidate will have an interest and be an active collaborator in research programs. The candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching of medical students, residents and fellows at the University of Ottawa.

The successful candidate will have certification by the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (or equivalent) in Pediatrics and/or Medical Genetics. Certification by Canadian College of Medical Geneticists (or equivalent) in Biochemical Genetics, and/or significant experience in the care of patients with inborn errors of metabolism is also required. The successful candidate will also be eligible for a faculty appointment at an academic rank commensurate with experience in the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ottawa.
