MNG Laboratories, a LabCorp Company, is a leading, rapidly growing, CLIA and CAP certified clinical diagnostic and research facility located in Atlanta, GA. We specialize in metabolic and molecular genetics while providing expertise in diagnostic testing of rare disorders.
We are seeking a full time Clinical Molecular Geneticist that will be responsible for reviewing, interpreting, and reporting patient results reliably, accurately, and with integrity. The Clinical Molecular Geneticist is responsible for 1) assessing the content of testing panels to keep them in line with current scientific data and other offerings in the marketplace, 2) working with the CMO and product development team to guarantee the scientific soundness of new products, and 3) assisting the laboratory, annotation, and reporting team in all aspects of report generation. Additional managerial duties may be assigned, depending on experience and knowledge base. This role requires cooperation and communication with the laboratory, annotation, reporting, and bioinformatics teams in order to ensure that all reports are accurate and meet the promised TATs.
Perform comprehensive review and interpretation of clinical patient data and assist in the reporting of cases within the expected TAT
Read and assimilate complex information from peer-reviewed literature and other resources
Participate in or take the lead on writing validations, SOPs, work instructions, quick reference guides, and worksheets
Work with scientists, computer support specialists, and software developers to manage the flow of information among project workgroups during development and testing
Assist in training of additional members of the annotation team
Understand reporting procedures and communicate the information to people with diverse backgrounds
Think independently to troubleshoot problems and make improvements
Assist in laboratory quality assurance/control/improvement initiatives
American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics or Active Candidate status or Molecular Genetic Pathology board certification (Clinical Biochemical Genetics is a plus)
Previous experience in a clinical laboratory highly preferred
Deep understanding of complex human genetics concepts with special emphasis on population genetics
Proficient in standard Office software; ability to work with databases and project software
Meticulous attention to detail
Strong organizational skills and ability to cooperate with and communicate across various departments
