We are looking for a physician to help lead our metabolic disorders program as part of our Center for Genomic Health. This new physician would help partner with our state-of-the-art neonatology and pediatric liver transplant programs to develop a metabolic disorders program at AdventHealth for Children that will provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for infants, children, and adolescents who have metabolic diseases. Our team will include two genetic counselors and a metabolic dietician and will work with a multidisciplinary group of experienced clinicians, with experts in neurology, gastroenterology, cardiology, genetics, transplant surgeons, MFM, general pediatrics, psychology and social work. We will develop capability for rapid, in house biochemical testing to support this program for urgent diagnoses and will partner with established laboratories for advanced testing. The program would also see adults who have been previously diagnosed with a metabolic disorder.
The metabolic geneticist will work closely with our liver transplant team, in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in the management of pre and post-transplant patients with metabolic disorders. This physician will also support our General Genetics and dysmorphology program (working with Dr. Aditi Dagli). These patients typically include children who are referred after a genetic disorder has been diagnosed by another physician and children who exhibit symptoms that suggest a possible genetic disorder, including birth defects, differences in physical features, failure to thrive, seizures and developmental delay.
