You will serve as a Speech Pathologist in the Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS) Department of NAVAL HOSPITAL OKINAWA. The purpose of this position is provide early intervention services to developmentally delay and disabled children and their families. The primary function is to provide speech and language diagnostic/evaluation and treatment services to eligible children ages birth to 3 years old.
You will execute a full range of direct pediatric speech/language procedures and treatment services for Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS).
You will employ pediatric specialty techniques to manage clients with a combination of mild to severe speech impairment, developmental, learning, and behavioral impairments from birth through 3 years of age.
You will educate the parents and the family of each client regarding assessment and treatment goals and procedures, patient right, available community program and educational services for handicapped children and their families.
You will identify the positive and negative factors among the oral structures and functions as they relate to prognosis and the need for referral to other specialties.
You will incorporate case history and clinical findings into a comprehensive report/multidisciplinary evaluation, including factors affecting prognosis and recommendation.

A graduate or higher level graduate degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology with approved clinical practice that was approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained.
A full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTORS:
