Asuragen is seeking an exceptional computational scientist to lead the development of new technologies and analysis platforms within our early-stage research team. This position offers the opportunity to establish and champion novel projects at the interface of the computational and molecular sciences, directly influencing the future of our research program. The Senior Scientist will design, cultivate, and deliver innovative algorithms to enable streamlined, high-content analyses on multiple diagnostic platforms. Key Requirements and Duties:
The Senior Scientist will take an active role in leading projects, contribute to interdisciplinary teams, and provide additional computational expertise at Asuragen.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Devise, develop, and document novel end-to-end computational solutions in support of Asuragen’s research initiatives and capability expansion
Define, organize, and promote new computational research directions and process improvement initiatives
Author successful grants, patents, technical reports, and publications
Effectively communicate complex scientific topics and project progress through internal and external presentations
The Senior Scientist position requires excellent problem solving abilities, a high level of technical proficiency, superb oral and written communication skills, and an innovative mindset. In addition, well-qualified candidates will possess most of the following:
PhD or equivalent industry-relevant experience in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
Strong track record of independence, innovation, and productivity demonstrated through multiple peer-reviewed publications, grants, and/or patents
Highly knowledgeable of next generation sequencing technologies experience with an emphasis on long-read sequencing
Full-stack experience developing scalable bioinformatics and data science tools and pipelines
Extensive experience with data science APIs, tools, and frameworks such as Keras, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, NumPy, SciPy, and containerization (e.g. Docker)
Comprehensive understanding of machine learning concepts including cross-validation, Bayesian modeling, and deep learning
Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm for working in a multi-disciplinary team setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
