Reports To: Chief and Medical Director, Medical Program and Clinical Program Director, Maternal, Newborn, Paediatrics and Clinical Genetics
Hours: 1.0 FTE, days, 8 hour shifts
Status: Full Time Regular/Other (0.8-1.0 FTE)
Rate of Pay: $137.6812
We are recruiting for a Clinical Geneticist to join our team. The genetic services at NYGH include outpatient clinics and inpatient consultations in the areas of prenatal diagnosis, pediatric and adult dysmorphology, neurogenetics, cancer genetics and general genetic cases. In addition to the regular outpatient services, we host inter-professional clinics in Huntington disease and in Hereditary Breast Cancer, and we work closely with our maternal medicine colleagues. Our on-site labs include the largest prenatal screening lab in the country, as well as our cytogenetic and molecular laboratories.
This position supports the hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families.
On a practical level, you will:
attain a faculty appointment with the University of Toronto
participate in research and/or quality improvement initiatives in the Genetics Program
support and consult with the team to establish and/or revise policies, procedures and processes
provide oversight for the clinical practice of the genetic counselors that are part of the team
develop and maintain an effective communication link with all members of the NYGH Genetics team, and other internal and external partners, locally, regionally and provincially
actively participate in internal and external committees

Licensed to Practice as a Physician in Ontario
Certification or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians in Medical Genetics or the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists in Clinical genetics
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
Extra training/course work in quality improvement would be an asset
