The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) School of Medicine (SOM) is seeking a full-time Pediatric Geneticist to serve as core faculty for this newly established department. The chosen candidate will have the opportunity to build a program. The School of Medicine includes the South Texas Diabetes and Obesity Institute, which is a well-funded team who perform gene epidemiology. The successful candidate likely will work collaboratively with that group. Faculty is expected to maintain a clinical practice, supervise residents and teach medical students and play an active role in the development of scholarship.
Responsibilities include supervision and maintaining an educational environment conductive to education for medical residents and/or students in each of the ACGME/LCME competency areas. Academic rank and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Chair, Dr. Robert Nelson, of the Department of Pediatrics UTRGV, the faculty will build a program, develop and maintain a clinical practice, supervise residents, and teach medical students with protected time for scholarly activities.
