Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota (CHM), the 10th largest Children’s Hospital in North America is seeking a Clinical Geneticist with experience in Biochemical Genetics to join an established and rapidly expanding medical genetics program in Minneapolis/St. Paul, Minnesota. We are looking to add to our nationally recognized genetics staff compromised of 4 experienced providers, Dr. Gunter Scharer, Dr. Nancy Mendelsohn, Dr. Vikas Bhambhani, Dr. Marcelo Vargas along with a genetics team comprised of nurse practitioners, nurses and numerous genetic counselors, as well as multi-disciplinary teams with specialists in Neonatology, Hematology/Oncology, Cardiology, Cleft and Craniofacial, Neuroscience and Critical Care.
Children’s Genetics program is one of the largest in the region, providing more than 2,000 patient visits and consultations per year to children and teens from the Upper Midwest. We have the only genetics clinic in Minnesota with a focus on diagnosis and clinical care of pediatric patients and childhood conditions, but also provide genetic counseling and genetic testing to adult relatives of our patients and our established metabolic patients. Genetic providers can participate in several new healthcare initiatives, including delivery of care via Telemedicine, Genomics Medicine Clinic and Pharmacogenetic consulting.
The candidate should be board eligible/certified in Clinical Genetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Clinical experience in Biochemical Genetics or board certification in Medical Biochemical Genetics is preferred, as successful applicants should be comfortable caring for patients with inborn errors of metabolism as well as general genetics diagnosis. The successful applicant will be required to qualify for a Minnesota medical license and will need credentialing with several area hospitals the Genetics service provides care for.
